Each Everest laminated tip is individually tested for consistency, hardness and quality. It shapes like a hard tip, hits like a medium, but has the control of a soft tip. Everest tips have 10 layers that include a red warning layer to indicate when it needs replacement.

McDermott shafts with a 3/8x10 pin feature a wood joint (depending upon model, the shaft may or may not have a brass insert). Due to the nature of this joint type, and the construction methods used by McDermott cues, please be aware that the shaft you purchase may not be a precise match to your existing cue. This may be evidenced in a slight difference in overall diameter between the shaft and butt of the cue, or a slight offset in the centering of the pin. Please be advised that by purchasing a shaft for an existing cue, that these conditions may be present. This is not considered a product defect and will not affect play or performance of the shaft in any way.
